How Long Is The Starlink Cable – Knowing All You Need To Know About Starlink Cable Lengths

Knowing how long your Starlink Cable is can prove a piece of important information for every potential Starlink buyer to have.

The length of your cable may determine how much leverage you can afford to find a good mounting spot for your dish.

The cable length can also influence your flexibility with the conduit process and the mount type to use.

This article discusses the various Starlink dish types available and the cable length in each installation kit.

You will also learn about the suitability of the cable length in the Starlink order you have lined up before you go ahead.

How Long Is The Starlink Cable

To provide the smooth satellite internet access that Starlink offers, it used a standard cable.

Starlink’s cable is responsible for transferring data and power to the places where you need it. The cable consists of eight wires combined from four twisted pairs.

The cable length in your Starlinks kit depends mostly on the type of dish you order and the package provided. We discuss the main dish types and their included cable length in detail below:

Circular Dish

The circular dish comes pre-arranged in the RV, Premium, and Business packages. It was initially used during Starlink’s beta testing stage and is still being used.

The length of the cable designed to work with the circular dish is 100ft(30.5m). Also, the included AC cable for plugging the router into a power source is 6ft long.

You can not replace the Cable included in the circular dish package with an extension. This is because the cable is non-detachable, thus implying that you can not replace them.

Rectangular Dish

The rectangular dish is the type Starlink assigns to its RV and Residential subscribers

It is capable of performing at higher internet speeds and lower latency in comparison to the circular dish.

The cable included in the Starlink kit for this type of package order is 75ft(22.9m) long.

While the cable’s length is a length-based downgrade from the circular dish, the rectangular dish has its positives.

It has a provision for replacing the standard cable with a 150 ft cable extension. The length of the AC cable for the router is still pegged at 6ft(1.8m).

The ethernet cable in the circular dish kit is 16.5ft(5m) long.

High-Performance Dish

Starlink’s High-Performance dish is available to Premium, Business, Maritime, and even Residential subscribers when customized.

As its name implies, it provides high-performance internet access at very low latency at high speeds.

The high-performance dish has an 82ft(25m) Cable plugged in. Unfortunately, there’s no way to detach the cable from the dish. Hence, there’s no provision for a cable extension.

Flat High-Performance Dish

Starlink offers its Flat High-Performance dish to customers who use its service while their RV is moving.

It also delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to your devices, making it in high demand for professionals who travel frequently.

The length of the Starlink cable included in this package is 26.2ft(8m). The length of the Ethernet and Router cables included in the kit is 16.5ft(5m) and 6.5ft(2m), respectively.

What is The Maximum Starlink Cable Length

The cable length in your dish will affect how comfortably you mount your dish.

A long standard cable eliminates the need for requesting a cable extension. It can also help you be more flexible and creative in routing the cable.

The standard cable provided in all of Starlink’s packages does not get any longer than the 100ft cable used in the circular dish.

Also, as the Starlink cables are proprietary, you can not replace them with a cable from another maker. You can not also use adapters or extenders to add to their length.

This means you can not join a 150ft cable extension to a 100ft standard cable to get a 250 ft-long cable.

The maximum length at which Starlink offers its proprietary cable is 150ft. Note that this particular cable is only offered as requested and that you can not buy it from non-proprietary sources.

You can only buy this cable extension as an accessory at a Starlink store

Conclusion

The length of your Starlink cable is important when buying a Starlink dish at home or work.

A longer cable can help you be more flexible in installing your dish, although a shorter dish is more portable.

Starlink offers its services over a few different service packages and these packages spot cables that come in different lengths.

If the standard cable in your ordered package is not long enough, you can always opt for an extension if possible.

We say “if possible” because not all dish types have provision for detaching and thus replacing the standard cable.
